Card order
Highest to lowest in Trinidad rules.
Game points
Used to decide the Game point each hand.
All other cards are worth 0 points.
Hand flow
Six tricks, one trump suit, then score in order.
Dealer deals 6 cards. The top card is turned up for trump and is kicked out of play.
Dealer earns kick points from the turn-up card: Ace = 1, Six = 2, Jack = 3.
Any non-dealer can beg for a new trump. Dealer accepts (re-turn up) or refuses (take one).
Player to dealer’s right leads. Follow suit if possible. Trump can be played anytime.
Count High, Low, Jack, Game, Kick, Take One in order and stop at 14.
Dealer rotates right and a new hand begins.
Scoring categories
Count in order and stop when a team reaches 14.
High
1 pointHighest trump dealt. The turn-up card does not count.
Low
1 pointLowest trump dealt. The turn-up card does not count.
Jack
1 pointJack of trumps played and won by the same team.
Hang Jack
3 pointsOpponents capture the Jack of trumps.
Game
1 pointTeam with most game points from captured cards.
Kick
1-3 pointsDealer earns points based on the turn-up card.
Take One
1 pointAwarded to opponents when dealer refuses a beg.
Special rules to remember
Follow suit
Players must follow suit if possible. There is no renege option.
Trump at any time
Trump can be played even when you can follow suit.
Re-turn up
If the new trump matches the previous suit, keep turning until it changes.
Deck exhaustion
If the deck runs out while re-turning, reshuffle a full deck and redeal.
Begging rules
Any non-dealer can beg for a new trump. The dealer chooses to accept or refuse.
- Accept: deal 3 more cards to each player and turn up a new trump.
- Same suit: keep turning until a different suit appears.
- Deck runs out: reshuffle a fresh deck and redeal 6 cards.
- Refuse: opponents gain Take One (1 point).
